Our priest of the month for September is Fr. Justin Miller. Fr. Miller was ordained in June and is currently serving at St. Joseph Church in Penfield. If you would like to send a note along with your prayers for him, his address is:

Fr. Justin Miller
St. Joseph Church
43 Gebhardt Rd.
Penfield, NY 14526

1. When did you know you wanted to be a priest?
I first wanted to be a priest when I was in 4th grade, but it was a faint calling. When I came back to the whole-hearted practice of my faith in College, I thought about it very seriously. Then I dated for a while and eventually entered the seminary after it was clear that God was calling me to this vocation. It helped that I had two close friends enter the seminary (one is Fr. Peter Mottola) in the three years when I was seriously discerning priesthood.

2. What do you like to do on your day off?
On my day off I like to get together with old friends, or maybe stay over at another priest's rectory and catch up, or do something that is quiet or nature-related. I like to hike or ski or even play golf.

3. What is one of your favorite Scripture passages?
Scripture is one of my favorite things. And yet I am eclectic. I love the Old Testament. One of my favorite Scripture passages is the call of Gideon in Judges 6. But I also really like the Acts of the Apostles and Ephesians. My favorite book of all, however, is the Gospel of Luke.

4. Do you have any particular intentions you'd like us to pray for?
Please pray for those who are unaware of the love God has for them, the love that is available in the Catholic Church. Pray especially for fallen away Catholics or those Catholics who are misinformed about their faith.

5. What is one of your favorite books or movies?
My favorite book is "Don Quixote de la Mancha" by Miguel de Cervantes. It's long but whimsical, wise, and worthy of being called the first and the greatest modern novel.
